I translate your texts and documents from French, German, English and Japanese into French and German.
As I am bilingual, French and German, I can guarantee you an authentic, error-free translation.
My bachelor's degree in applied foreign languages and my advanced technical certificate enable me to be versatile and to work on a variety of documents and subjects.
However, to guarantee a flawless quality, I prefer to translate material related to my areas of interest. In other words, the world of video games, journalistic writing, foreign cultures and manga or anime.
Since I was a child, I've devoted a particular attention to video games and foreign entertainment media such as manga and anime. A passion that drove me to learn foreign languages so that I could better understand what was occurring on my screen, because a lot of video game content was only partially translated, if at all.
And so, translating English cutscenes, tips in German game magazines or game guides for friends became the memories that paved my way to translation.
Learning a language will have taught me that memorising vocabulary isn’t enough. Each language is a vessel of a vision, a culture, a world and therefore alive. A concept that our ancestors, the Celts, had already grasped. This notion led the Filid, or bards/druids, to leave us few written records, since for them, paper was a lifeless object and therefore unfit to transmit their knowledge, culture, poetries, and stories, which they considered to be alive.
Although translating entails conveying a message in written form, I embrace this idea, especially in this age of automatic translation. Because for me, the translator acts as a medium, a living link between a text, a language and its translation. Thus, forging a bond that no program or artificial intelligence can.
In the end, only a being gifted with a brain, a heart and a soul has the capacity to truly understand a language and therefore able to provide a living translation without betraying the source.
